The question is not about if we allow the sorority or fraternity to define us. The fact is when you submit to a sorority regardless to what your good deed is it's idol worship. How can you align yourself with a organizations that clearly have false god's as there symbols and think God is OK with it? Regardless to your conduct in it. So many use the example of Jesus sitting with the sinner but fail to state the purpose for why he sat with the sinner. He did not join there agenda but rather ministered his. The bible says and i paraphrase there will be many that speak of what they did in his name and he will say depart from me I never knew you. God approves what his spirit is behind not what we decide to join and attach his name to. While the message is Jesus saves it is also if you reject him you will not be saved. We have to stop trying to have God on our terms and failing to see what he approves in his word. The bible is absolute truth and very clear on how he feels about idol worship and what idol worship is.Satan quoted bible when he approached Jesus in the wilderness but it was with the wrong spirit. 10 percent poison and 90 percent clean water can still be deadly. Join the brotherhood of Jesus and stop trying to recreate the wheel. We need not pretend sororities are innocent. The chants that request the spirit of the sorority to guide you is clearly wrong. If it is so God focused why is it not governed by God's standard the bible? Alpha Phi Alpha has the Great Sphinx as there symbol. Is that ok with God? I don't think so. God does not get glory when we do deeds using the name of a false God as our source. If you want to do more for God then do more for God. God does not need another organization to represent his agenda especially when another god is being added to the picture.
