The West Georgian is the official student newspaper of the University of West Georgia. The newspaper was founded in 1934 and has seen the college transform into a flourishing university. The West Georgian added the online edition in the Fall of 2000 to better serve its readers. The award-winning newspaper has been recognized at state and national levels for excellence in journalism. In the past three years, The West Georgian has received ten Georgia College Press Association Awards including best Web Site, Most Improved, Best Campus Community Service through Editorial and Sports, General Excellence in Photography and Excellence in Advertising.
